Web design and development for Haringey Council
A WCAG-compliant website theme aligned to a new brand identity.
Overview
The council needed to update its website’s look and feel in eight weeks to coincide with a new brand rollout. The refactored HTML and CSS also had to be compatible with over 200 pre-built web pages.

Deliverables
Using an iterative delivery approach, we built the theme over four two-week sprints, allowing for regular feedback and approval from Haringey’s web team. At the same time, Ixis, the hosting partner, had time to review the code before each release.

We retained the existing CSS framework to preserve backward compatibility, customising it to match Haringey’s new brand identity.
Alongside the customisation work, we introduced accessibility enhancements to the underlying HTML structure.
The changes were bundled into exportable modules to ensure a smooth deployment. These modules were installed on both staging and production servers quickly and efficiently, minimising any disruption to the live website.

- WCAG compliance: The new theme fully complied with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, ensuring an accessible website for all users, including those with disabilities.
- Compatibility with Internet Explorer: Despite the challenges associated with maintaining compatibility with older browsers, the theme worked on Internet Explorer, catering to users with legacy systems.
