Designing BrokerPal – a personal lines trading app
A complete digital product design engagement, from early concept and interaction flows to high fidelity UI and reusable components.
Overview
The BrokerPal team wanted to create an app to differentiate them from other insurance products in an industry gearing up for digital innovation.

Deliverables
We began with a discovery workshop to fully understand BrokerPal’s purpose.
Working with stakeholders, we created a series of user flow diagrams, mapping out the various pathways users would take while navigating the app and capturing all necessary touchpoints and interactions.
Next, we created wireframes based on these user flows. The wireframes served a dual purpose.
-
For non-technical stakeholders
They provided a visual representation of how each screen in a flow would appear, helping to clarify design intent and improve communication.
-
For developers and testers
The wireframes offered a blueprint of the app’s functionality, allowing the development team to better understand key requirements and interactions.

After the wireframes were approved, we built clickable HTML prototypes to gather user feedback and make necessary adjustments.
Finally, we reused code from the HTML prototype to construct the front-end user interface. This approach saved time and ensured consistency between the prototype and the final product.
Results
- A collaborative approach: Co-creation workshops encouraged innovative thinking and collective problem-solving.
- Test, then test again: Continually testing and iterating with users delivered a joined-up, user-centric product.
- Complimentary branding: We designed the BrokerPal visual identity, created a set of brand guidelines, and built a suite of HTML emails to ensure a cohesive, branded customer experience.
